Priorities

“We cannot be fully evolved human beings, nor a community, until we care about basic rights and human dignity of everyone.”

PASSING LEGISLATION

2019 ACT 59 – Most comprehensive updates to police training in decades. Provides for training on recognizing and reporting child abuse, de-escalation and harm reduction techniques and introduced new criteria relating to officer PTSD. Municipal officers now receive training in community and cultural awareness, implicit bias, and recognizing signs of child abuse.

FIGHTING TO REOPEN OUR HOSPITALS

Dan is outraged at the closure of our hospitals and is taking action. He wrote HB2704 requiring state approval on hospital closures and co-established the Coatesville Health Advocacy Work Group to address healthcare issues, such as the hospital closing and the current healthcare desert in the Coatesville area.

PUSHING TO LOWER PROPERTY TAXES

Harrisburg Republicans have long withheld funding to our public schools, leaving you to bear the burden in property taxes. Dan is working to bring you relief by restoring the state’s fair share of funding and supporting our students. Including promoting fair funding for all schools, adding more education funding to the annual budget (as with record increases this year), freezing property taxes for seniors and adjusting the Property Tax Rent Rebate program to include more people and provide larger rebates.

ADVANCING LABOR RIGHTS

Dan knows first-hand that unions helped create our middle class. He wrote the PA PRO Act (HB658) to allow all workers to collectively bargain, join labor unions, and to be protected against retaliation.

DEFENDING WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM AND PRIVACY RIGHTS FOR ALL

Dan is dedicated to defending women’s reproductive freedom and privacy rights for all. He believes in keeping government legislation out of the personal lives and decisions of all individuals.

PROTECTING PA’S FARMERS

Dan knows how important farming is to Pennsylvania’s economy. He introduced legislation (HB 2564) to give financial protection to farmers when a buyer goes out of business and has voted for all supporting legislation.
